The ESCMID Global 2024 app will be available in early April and will be your guide to the congress programme, extras and networking with other attendees. It will be available on both Google and iOS stores.
Accessibility
The Venue is wheelchair accessible. Elevators are available and marked on the floorplan for usage. Hostesses can direct you to the nearest elevator.
ATM
An ATM can be found in the Registration Area, located under the escalator.
B
Badges
All participants and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the Congress. Access to the Scientific Sessions will only be possible with your personal name badge. We charge 100 EUR for the replacement of a lost badge. For any name change, we charge a fee of 50 EUR.

Bank/ATM
Banks are open to the public between 8:15 and 14:15 CEST during regular working days. Visa and Mastercard are the most commonly accepted cards. American Express and Diner’s Club are also accepted, although not as common. Cards without a chip and only with a magnetic strip are less likely to be accepted.

Charging Point
There are multiple charging points available for free throughout the venue. You can find them marked on the floorplan as a plug. We advise to avoid the plugs in the walls as they can be unsafe.
Cameras and Recordings
Electronic recording or excessive photography of presentation slides is prohibited in all lecture halls during all sessions.
Catering
The registration to the Congress does not include catering. Booths in the Exhibition Area will be available with different types of cuisine for purchase. Please see the Venue map or ask a Hostess for directions. Credit cards and cash are the accepted payment methods.
Childcare
Children are not allowed on the Venue grounds. The company “Nanny Line” can be contacted as they will provide childcare service during ESCMID Global 2024 (online pre-booking is required).

Climate
April is a great month to visit Barcelona for its spring weather. A warm Mediterranean sunny weather, up to 22°C is expected, with an average minimal temperature of 12-16°C. Occasional showers can occur; therefore, it is highly recommended to bring an umbrella.

Cloakroom/Luggage Storage
The Cloakroom and luggage storage area is available throughout the Congress days. There are two cloakrooms available, one in the entrance in Hall 6 and the other in the Registration Area in Hall 8. Luggage items can not be brought into the Venue.

CME Points
ESCMID Global has been accredited with 30 European CME credits. Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that they actually spent in the educational activity. For more information, please visit our dedicated CME/CPD Accreditation page.
Congress Registration
Upon receiving registration payments by ESCMID, each participant will receive a registration confirmation with a barcode by email. Please bring your registration confirmation and go directly to the badge self-print stations in the Registration Area of the Congress Centre.
Delegates booked through a group registration will receive information on how badges and the Congress materials are distributed from a group coordinator.
If you plan to register onsite, please proceed the signs to “New Registration”. You may pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) or cash in EUR.

COVID-19 Testing
There will not be a COVID-19 test centre onsite at the Congress Venue. However, if you require one, there is a test centre at Barcelona airport. You can find more information on this website.
Currency
The official currency used in Spain is the EUR. Although credit cards are generally accepted in taxis, it is advisable to ask before if they accept cards. We advise you to carry a small amount of cash.

Dining in Barcelona
It is known for Spain to have a late lunch and dinner, however many restaurants adjust opening times to foreign visitors. It is highly recommended to reserve a table online/through the phone in advance as the city can still be quite bustling till 23:00 CEST.

Electricity Supply
In Spain, power plugs and sockets are type C and follow the European standard of 230V and 50Hz. It is recommended for attendees from the USA, Canada and a large part of South America with a 100-127V plugs, to bring a power plug adapter/voltage converter.
Emergency
In the event of an emergency, dial 112 from any phone to connect you to the Emergency Services. The dispatch centre will redirect the call accordingly for the type of request to the appropriate emergency service.
Exhibition
The Exhibition is located in Hall 7. To reach Hall 7 you can reach it by going up the escalators or elevators in Hall 8 near the Registration and follow the directions. As per Saturday, those with a valid badge are able to reach the Exhibition through the entrance outside in Hall 6. The Hostesses are informed and are also able to give the correct direction. The First Aid area can be found in Hall 8.0 behind Session Hall F. Hostesses within Hall 8 can further pinpoint you to its direction.

Please avoid booking through websites that claim they are working for ESCMID Global (formerly known as ECCMID), in case of doubts, please contact us. ESCMID is not responsible for fraudulent bookings made though any other channel than the official ESCMID Global provider.

Insurance
The Congress organisers accept no liability for any injuries sustained, or any property loss or damage during, or as a result of the Congress. Please ensure that your insurance is valid.

Internet
Wi-Fi will be freely available to attendees at the Venue grounds, to connect to the Internet onsite. If no Wi-Fi networks are shown on your device, please ensure that Wi-Fi is switched on and if no Wi-Fi options are shown on your device, please contact your provider.

The lactation room is located in the room left side of the Registration Area.
Language
The official language of the Congress is English.
Lost and Found
Items that are found at the Venue will be collected by the staff and kept at the Registrations Service Desk. Should you lose or find any personal belongings, please visit this desk to report or collect these items.

Meeting Boxes
Meeting boxes will be available for everyone in Hall 8.1. They are located next to the Press Office. Reservations can only be done in person.

Mobile Phone Policy
We kindly ask that calls are not to be made and your phones to be switched to a silent mode during all sessions. Pictures should not be taken during sessions to respect speakers privacy as well the copyright of the presented material.

Parking
There are underground car park facilities at the Venue (for vehicles below 2.05 m) along its perimeter (see venue map). Parking “F” at the North Access is open from Monday to Sunday from 07:00 to 21:00 CEST. Rate per hour at this parking is 3 EUR.
Photographers
There are official ESCMID Global photographers, responsible for capturing and preserving moments during the event including the sessions and events throughout ESCMID Global.
Prayer Room
The Prayer Room is located after the Registration Area. Contact our hostesses onsite to guide you.
Press Centre
The press centre is located on the first floor in 8.1 and can be easily reached through the escalators in the registration area.

Speaker Ready Room
Onsite speakers can provide us with their presentations in the Speaker Ready Room. It is located next to the Registration Area. Speakers will be required to provide their presentations on a USB stick (no later than three hours prior to the start of the session).
In the Speaker Ready Room, the speaker can check their presentation and, if necessary, make slight modifications. Technicians will be available in the room for support/assistance.

Transport
Located just three kilometres from Barcelona’s historic city centre, Fira Gran Via is ideally situated in a newly redeveloped business district. The local public transport network conveniently links the expansive and modern venue to both the metropolitan downtown and nearby El Prat International Airport (12 km).
Public transportation
Line 9 Sud runs from the airport to Fira Gran Via, and into the city of Barcelona. It connects with three other major Metro lines, so nearly every area of city has a simpler way to get to Fira Gran Via. The main station in the venue is called Fira.
Another option near North Access is the metro stop called “Foc” from the line L10.
Train Discount
Greater utilisation of public transport over personal vehicles is one of the best ways to reduce emissions and helps to save the environment. ESCMID is dedicated to doing what we can to offset our ESCMID Global carbon footprint and hope that you will too! As a part of this initiative, our colleagues at RENFE , the Spanish National Rail Network, are offering to allow ESCMID Global attendees to travel with a 15% discount on AVE (high speed) and Renfe Long Distance trains within Spain, from their departure city to Barcelona: Renfe.com

Water Stations
During the Congress there will be free water stations available, located throughout the Venue. It is encouraged to keep your water bottles around to refill them.
